28/48 Seven things I’ve learned since coming to the USA
Filed in Blogathon 2007- That Yankee is not slang for “American”.
- That Americans can say “fanny” with no embarrassment at all, and that Brits can say “fag” without wincing. That we, therefore, two nations divided by a single language.
- That there is no such thing as a “typical American,” because the USA really is a great big wonderful fondue pot.
- That the British are as susceptible to prejudice and silly stereotyping as any nation.
- That it really is possible to have, and even groom, an American Dream.
- That I can have a better life here for less money, and need less, than I ever expected.
- That my English accent will always be an asset, an ice-breaker, and a starting point.

I’ve posted a link to this blog on my LJ account, but expect you’ll be too tired to read it and let me know what I’ve done wrong with it until tomorrow.
Bummer you missed the exhibit and the Garlic Festival.
Well done blogging.

Well done indeed, and I do thoroughly enjoy your accents. I’ve always been a sucker for accents, myself!

AL: Thank you :-)
LJ is so incredibly slow loading for me right now that I’d better not try.
beautyredefined: I like American accents in general, so we can indulge in some ear candy. (Doesn’t that sound vile?)
Phelan: grin. I know!
Marina: :)
Buffra: Hee!

You don’t type with an accent.

I could jolly well talk with an accent if I wished. Hip-hip. Tootle-pip!
