22 June: Rte. 305

State Route 305 is just after Austin, and made me very happy indeed. Mostly it is like this; a softer landscape than most I’ve been through, somehow.
Yet in the middle is an irrigated lush river valley, and a bunch of spectacular crags and hillocks where the rocks stick out like the bones of some animal.
It’s really cool.
Then you go back to the straightness.
Btw, the mormon crickets are out in force, and the jackrabbits and birds are suicidal. The rabbits bound across the road in front of you, and the birds like to sit on the road then fly away from you at the last minute.
