Just at sunset last night, we had an amazing thunderstorm. It was close enough to freak out all the animals, and I captured my first lightning shot.

Donner Summit looked like it might snow on us, so we left relatively early. Thick clouds surrounded us and then there was mile after mile of pine trees. Finally unencumbered, we arrived on familiar ground to a glorious sunset.

We woke up to what may well be the last snow of the winter, at least at this elevation. There’s been a lot of snow higher up, making the mountains look like frosted cakes, but it’s rare to find it where we have to deal with it.

When you’ve finished your day’s work, done as much programming and admin as you can handle, and don’t have any DVDs to watch, naturally your thoughts turn to cake.
