Filed in BlogIt’s mid-afternoon at the end of a very poor week.
Here is a brief summary: I crashed my motorcycle while trying to bump start it (the battery will need replacing; the mirror probably just needs a new bolt). My cat became sick and has, so far, cost us $1500, $400 of which was wasted on a vet which, due to lack of resources/experience let my cat pull out his catheter twice, so that by the time we transferred him he had been unable to fully empty his bladder for four days. The second vet, an emergency vet since Lodi vets apparently don’t work at weekends, has managed to help the poor guy. Eventually, we hope he’ll be able to pee on his own. We’ll bring him home tomorrow, but whether he has to go to a third vet remains to be seen.
In additon to this, today I heard that my uncle died and that my cousin was off work for two months due to contracting legionnaire’s disease followed by pneumonia. The toilet also overflowed and we spent two hours touring Lodi trying to find somewhere that sold Nature’s Miracle, which is now taking care of the odor. The carpet will probably take two weeks to dry out. We did, however, successfully smog the car which means it is now street legal for another two weeks.
So that has been my week. Onwards and upwards, eh?

Well, if there’s any justice in the Universe, next week should be wonderful… I hope!
I’m sorry about the bad news from the family, too.
hugs

What, pray tell, is “smogging?”

BR: yup!
Smogging is the act of taking one’s vehicle for a compulsory emissions test. Ours had to go to a specialized center because once, about six years ago, it failed very badly and is now tagged as a “gross polluter” even though it has passed first time every time since. This means we pay $70+ for our tests whereas other mortals only pay $20 or so.
