16th September: en route to Skye
Filed in Britain 2006From top to bottom:
Locks from the Caledonian Canal, at Fort Augustus, postcard and loo and snarfage stop. ;-)
A bonnie view down Loch Somethingorother.
Once again, with parents. ;-)
Another loch, where the sun was so bright the reflections were vibrant. It’s hard to explain how *rare* days are like this, especially in September. At this spot there were hundreds of little cairns and a larger one, each with a wish/prayer of some kind written on a piece of paper and tucked inside. Probably not a real tradition so much as a
tourist spontaneous occurrence, but it was touching nonetheless.
Eilean Donan Castle, which some of you may recognise from such sources as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Highlander, BBC Scotland, countless jigsaw puzzles, etc. It is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. A piper was playing there…young man with kilt and dreadlocks :: grin ::
That bridge? It’s over the Bridge to Skye. ;-)
