13th April
Filed in Motorcycle Road Trips, Raven's Roads 2005A day of rest and of errands. I slept very well in the RV, my own little island in a beautiful world of cats, dogs, and twinkling stars.
Various cats got acquainted with me. I think they have six permanents and one visitor right now. The dog which growled and looked nervous yesterday lifeted an ear and then her tail started to wag slowly and deliberately, so we’re friends now. That one’s called Luna, I think.
We went to meet the wheatgrass lady today, and ended up staying a while. Out here is the closest I’ve managed so far to the community I had in Hitchin, where it feels comfortable just walking through a doorway. I was greeted by the queen cat, whose magnificent name I cannot remember. Wheat grass is a “miracle substance” - a small glass is the equivalent of eating about a pound and a half of veges. It tastes sweet, and is potent. I could feel my hair curling when I sipped at mine and couldn’t manage more than three sips. It went straight to my back muscles and allowed them to straighten right up, which was wonderful, and gave me a ton and a half of energy.
Oakwoman needed it too, with her nasty sunburn, even nastier spider bite.
We got a few things that I needed in town, and I saw with fresh eyes the road I had come up in a tired state the previous night. I was moderately impressed with myself.
Spent the rest of the day reorganising my luggage and getting ready to go to Texas. The bike will remain here and has been sprayed by at least one cat, which we watched with amusement. I’m owned, now. (It had a cover on so I don’t care quite as much. That would be the bike, not the cat.)
