Thursday Thirteen: #1 — 13 Good Things in the Last Week

Filed in Blog

I’ve come across the Thursday 13 in a few journals now, and thought that I'd try it out. When Don and I go traveling, I can’t see myself blogging every last day trip every night–I’ll need to conserve my energy for logging my snarfs, writing for a book/e-zine and magazines, and just actually relaxing. So maybe the Thursday 13, a free-form 13-things-on-Thursday, meme will be a good way to summarize the previous week's adventures. I don’t know. I’ll try it and see.

Also, 13 is my lucky number.

  1. Being published in Friction Zone magazine was beyond cool. I think the background to this would make a good Thinking Out Loud and I’m overdue for one of those, so let it suffice to say that this is the next chapter in something I started 31 years ago, at the age of six. The dream’s coming true.

  2. Receiving a wonderful review/Book Crossing journal entry for A Little Twist of Texas.

  3. Finally getting my act together enough to send three out of four prizes for the 2006 Book Crossing History Challenge. It’s nice to clear those procrastinated-upon jobs from one’s desk.

  4. A beautiful, thoughtful and insightful gift from a good friend, Barb. She found me a tiny jet raven in the Zuni Nation while on vacation recently. When I was on Raven’s Roads I looked everywhere for a raven symbol, but couldn’t find one. Apparently, it needed to be found by someone else and gifted to me. I’m touched and Raven is absolutely beautiful.

  5. The 500th member signed up at Markeroni. My guesstimate is that with 2,000 members the site will self-sustain financially, so 25% is a nice milestone.

  6. Finding a random snarf in Livermore.

  7. Getting to know the abandoned Siamese cat in our (rapidly vanishing) mobile home park. She associates me with food now, and makes a highly amusing range of chirps and gobbling sounds as she, well, gobbles.

  8. Making chilli. Chilli good. Cooking good.

  9. Unexpectedly being up very early on Solstice morning to see the sunrise. Didn’t set my alarm, it just happened that way.

  10. Instinctively knowing when the solstice moment was coming up so that I could absorb a moment of quiet and feel the turning of the wheel.

  11. Making good progress with a database-driven FAQ instead of individual pages. This will cut the page count of an already very large site down by 30-40, I think.

  12. Looking forward to the Live Earth gigs, and remembering Live Aid back in 1985. Feeling a bit like a teenager again.

  13. Deciding to do the Thursday 13 on its 99th round. 99 is a pretty number. I like it.

The Gal Herself: If you don’t want to buy it for yourself, there is always the public library. :-)

    Alasandra: You’re welcome!
